Les Ulis, 9 November 2006 – Impact Technologies, the manufacturer of Itium thin client and Fitwin asynchronous communication card solutions, announces the availability of Mobil’Itium, its mobile authentication solution on USB flash drive for its Itium thin clients. Mobil’Itium simplifies and secures mobile access to confidential and personal data on any Itium thin client on the company network. The solution thus provides the response to the mobility requirements of personnel who have to be constantly on the move from one work station to another, such as the medical staff in hospital complexes or clinics.

Itium thin client dynamic configuration

The Mobil’Itium USB access flash drive provides dynamic configuration of the Itium thin client according to its user (profile, servers used, domain, desktop, etc.) The authentication information is protected by high-level AES 128-bit encryption and a 4-digit confidential code (PIN). When inserted to open the thin client session, the Mobil’Itium USB access flash drive dynamically applies the configuration profile relating to the user, immediately providing him/her with his/her desktop and the documents he/she is authorised to access. In addition, having a storage capacity of 512 Mb to 1 Gb, Mobil’Itium converts into a real pocket office. Using a generic Windows pilot, Mobil’Itium provides completely transparent use of saving locally on a USB peripheral, implemented in the Itium thin clients. When the Mobil’Itium flash drive is disconnected, the Itium thin client returns on its own to its initial configuration, ready for another mobile user.

Simple administration and traceability

The Mobil’Itium USB flash drives can easily be administered from the ItiumAdmin central administration interface. The integral configuration assistant provides the means for very simple user profile definition and for associating those profiles to the access rights for the server systems. The company thus has better control over access to its resources or confidential data, such as hospital patient medical files. Thanks to more secure identification of the users, the Mobil’Itium solution thus provides the means for observing regulatory obligations for traceability of changes to, and consultations of, information considered sensitive.

Mobil’Itium USB flash drives are available in 512 Mb and 1 Gb versions from Impact Technologies, for a recommended retail price of from 60 EURO plus VAT.
