The principle of Server based Computing consists in moving the calculus wight from traditional PCs to a central server to which each client connects. The thin client needs no longer to perform heavy tasks and thus minimum hardware requirements enable it to function properly. Thin clients are less noisy and occupy less place. Furthermore, few updates need to be applied to thin clients, and can be applied remotely from a single bc with a software tool such us ItiumAdmin.
The usefulness of this server based Computing model essentially
resides in the fact that it allows companies to circumvent the management,
access, performance and security problems involved in deploying
critical applications.
